Frank Petrocelli is a professional saxophonist and woodwind doubler originally from the Catskill Mountain resort region in upstate New York, where he began playing and performing in the many hotels that thrived in that area. Frank has a masters degree in saxophone performance and jazz studies from Western Michigan University, where he studied with Trent Kynaston and performed in their honors Jazz Orchestra. He now resides in the New York metropolitan region where he enjoys free lance work ranging from jazz and big band to rock and pop. He has performed in some of New York's top venues, including Birdland, Town Hall and Carnegie Hall.
Frank has been a music educator for over twenty years at the Monroe-Woodbury School district in Central Valley, New York, where he conducts and teaches concert and jazz ensembles, as well as music theory, music production and woodwind lessons.
During his professional careers in both performance and education, Frank has had the privilege of performing and collaborating with many artists and musical organizations, including the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, the Grand Rapids Symphony, the Kalamazoo Symphony (soloist), the Greater Newburgh Symphony (soloist), the New York Wind Symphony, the Playland Big Band, composer David Raksin, Tom Netherton, Anacani, Myron Floren, Rob Langeder, Jeff Ciampa, Adam Nussbaum, Marcus Belgrave, Scott Wendholt, Walter Booker, Todd Coolman, Mike Holober, Ed Xiques, Gary Smulyan, Lauren Sevian, Billy Hart, Willie Singleton (Count Basie Orchestra) , Greg Hopkins (Buddy Rich Big Band), Nathan Childers (Birdland Big Band), Ron Blake, Scott Reeves, Scott Neumann, composer Johan De Meij, Joe Alessi (New York Philharmonic), Jorgen van Rijen (Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Todd Williams (Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra), and singer Jenna Esposito-Cannizarro.
